Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in FasterXML jackson-databind up to 2.9.10 (Programming Language Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component JSON Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A Polymorphic Typing issue was discovered in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.0.0 through 2.9.10. When Default Typing is enabled (either globally or for a specific property) for an externally exposed JSON endpoint and the service has the p6spy (3.8.6) jar in the classpath, and an attacker can find an RMI service endpoint to access, it is possible to make the service execute a malicious payload. This issue exists because of com.p6spy.engine.spy.P6DataSource mishandling.
The weakness was released 10/01/2019 (Website). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-16943 since 09/29/2019. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
