The Forms 2.0 ActiveX control (included with Visual Basic for Applications 5.0) can be used to read text from a user's clipboard when the user accesses documents with ActiveX content.
The issue has been introduced in 06/20/1998. The weakness was published 01/01/1999 as MS99-001 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at microsoft.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-1999-0384. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
