A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Red Hat XML Language Server up to 0.9.0. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file XMLLanguageService.java. XMLLanguageService.java in XML Language Server (aka lsp4xml) before 0.9.1, as used in Red Hat XML Language Support (aka vscode-xml) before 0.9.1 for Visual Studio and other products, allows a remote attacker to write to arbitrary files via Directory Traversal.
The weakness was published 10/23/2019 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-18212 since 10/19/2019. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a single authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
