A vulnerability was found in NVIDIA GeForce Experience up to 3.20.1 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component GameStream. NVIDIA GeForce Experience, all versions prior to 3.20.1, contains a vulnerability when GameStream is enabled in which an attacker with local system access can load the Intel graphics driver DLLs without validating the path or signature (also known as a binary planting or DLL preloading attack), which may lead to denial of service, information disclosure, or escalation of privileges through code execution.
The weakness was disclosed 11/09/2019 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at nvidia.custhelp.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2019-5701 since 01/07/2019. The attack needs to be approached locally. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. Upgrading to version 3.20.1.57 eliminates this vulnerability.
