A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in PHP up to 5.4.3 (Programming Language Software). This issue affects an unknown code block of the component libxml2. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a release of resource vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-772. The product does not release a resource after its effective lifetime has ended, i.e., after the resource is no longer needed. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
PHP5 before 5.4.4 allows passing invalid utf-8 strings via the xmlTextWriterWriteAttribute, which are then misparsed by libxml2. This results in memory leak into the resulting output.
The weakness was released 11/13/2019. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-4657 since 01/03/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
