Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Linux Kernel (Operating System) (version now known). Affected is the function nl80211_get_ftm_responder_stats of the file net/wireless/nl80211.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
A memory leak in the nl80211_get_ftm_responder_stats() function in net/wireless/nl80211.c in the Linux kernel through 5.3.11 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by triggering nl80211hdr_put() failures, aka CID-1399c59fa929.
The weakness was disclosed 11/18/2019. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-19055 since 11/18/2019. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
