Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Zope 2.8.x before 2.8.12, 2.9.x before 2.9.12, 2.10.x before 2.10.11, 2.11.x before 2.11.6, and 2.12.x before 2.12.3, 3.1.1 through 3.4.1. allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors related to the way error messages perform sanitization. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2010-1104

The bug was discovered 01/13/2010. The weakness was disclosed 11/25/2019. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-4924 since 12/23/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 2.8.12, 2.9.12, 2.10.11, 2.11.6, 2.12.3 or 3.4.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
