Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel (Operating System) (version now known). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function lbs_ibss_join_existing in the library drivers/net/wireless/marvell/libertas/cfg.c of the component Marvell Wifi Chip Driver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability was found in marvell wifi chip driver in Linux kernel. There is a heap-based buffer overflow in lbs_ibss_join_existing function in drivers/net/wireless/marvell/libertas/cfg.c allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service(system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. When STA connects to AP, lbs_ibss_join_existing function will be called for STA.
