A vulnerability was found in Piwigo (Photo Gallery Software) (the affected version is unknown). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the file password.php of the component Incomplete Fix CVE-2012-4525. The manipulation of the argument username_or_email with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-79. The bug was discovered 09/26/2012. The weakness was published 12/02/2019 by Stefan Schurtz. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-4526. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2623 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:password.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
