Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Cameron Hamilton-Rich axTLS up to asn1.c. This issue affects the function get_asn1_length of the file asn1.c. The manipulation as part of a Crafted Certificate leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The asn1_signature function in asn1.c in Cameron Hamilton-Rich axTLS through 2.1.5 has a Buffer Overflow that allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a crafted certificate in the TLS certificate handshake message, because the result of get_asn1_length() is not checked for a minimum or maximum size.
The weakness was presented 12/03/2019. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-10013 since 03/24/2019. The attack may be initiated remotely.
