Details
A vulnerability has been found in OpenCV up to 4.1.0 (Image Processing Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function calc/ocl_calc of the file dis_flow.cpp. The manipulation as part of a Variable leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An out-of-bounds read was discovered in OpenCV before 4.1.1. Specifically, variable coarsest_scale is assumed to be greater than or equal to finest_scale within the calc()/ocl_calc() functions in dis_flow.cpp. However, this is not true when dealing with small images, leading to an out-of-bounds read of the heap-allocated arrays Ux and Uy.
The weakness was shared 12/06/2019. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-19624 since 12/06/2019. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 214909 (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 22.04 LTS : OpenCV vulnerabilities (USN-7247-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 4.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at Tenable (214909). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
