A vulnerability was found in Puppet Enterprise (Service Management Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Express Install. The express install, which is the suggested way to install Puppet Enterprise, gives the user a URL at the end of the install to set the admin password. If they do not use that URL, there is an overlooked default password for the admin user. This was resolved in Puppet Enterprise 2019.0.3 and 2018.1.9.
The weakness was disclosed 12/12/2019. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-10694 since 04/02/2019. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. Upgrading to version 2018.1.9 or 2019.0.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
