A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (Web Browser). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component Eyedog ActiveX Control. The Eyedog ActiveX control is marked as "safe for scripting" for Internet Explorer, which allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands as demonstrated by Bubbleboy.
The issue has been introduced in 06/02/1998. The weakness was disclosed 09/01/1999 as not defined advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-1999-0669. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
