The Eyedog ActiveX control is marked as "safe for scripting" for Internet Explorer, which allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands as demonstrated by Bubbleboy.

The issue has been introduced in 06/02/1998. The weakness was disclosed 09/01/1999 as not defined advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-1999-0669. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
