Multiple vulnerabilities in the REST and SOAP API endpoints of Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with administrative privileges on the DCNM application to inject arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system (OS). The weakness was disclosed 01/06/2020 as cisco-sa-20200102-dcnm-comm-in as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-15978 since 09/06/2019. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
