A vulnerability was found in Matt Wright GuestBook 2.3. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file guestbook.pl of the component SSI Handler. The manipulation with the input value <!-- scip --> leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. guestbook.pl cleanses user-inserted SSI commands by removing text between "<!--" and "-->" separators, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands when guestbook.pl is run on Apache 1.3.9 and possibly other versions, since Apache allows other closing sequences besides "-->".
