A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in T. Hauck Jana Web Server up to 1.46 (Web Server). This affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in Jana proxy web server 1.40 allows remote attackers to ready arbitrary files via a "......" (modified dot dot) attack.

This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-1999-1082. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
