A vulnerability has been found in Wireshark 3.2.0 (Packet Analyzer Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the file epan/dissectors/packet-wassp.c of the component WASSP Dissector. The manipulation as part of a Packet leads to a injection vulnerability. In Wireshark 3.2.x before 3.2.1, the WASSP dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-wassp.c by using >= and <= to resolve off-by-one errors.
The weakness was disclosed 01/16/2020. This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-7044 since 01/14/2020. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1055 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 3.2.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
