A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Fortinet FortiOS up to 5.6.10/6.0.6/6.2.1 (Firewall Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component CLI Console. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a default permission vulnerability (Private Key). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-276. During installation, installed file permissions are set to allow anyone to modify those files. Improper permission or value checking in the CLI console may allow a non-privileged user to obtain Fortinet FortiOS plaint text private keys of system's builtin local certificates via unsetting the keys encryption password in FortiOS 6.2.0, 6.0.0 to 6.0.6, 5.6.10 and below or for user uploaded local certificates via setting an empty password in FortiOS 6.2.1, 6.2.0, 6.0.6 and below.
The weakness was shared 01/23/2020 as FG-IR-19-134 (Website). The advisory is available at fortiguard.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2019-5593 since 01/07/2019. Local access is required to approach this attack. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
