A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. The Windows NT 4.0 print spooler allows a local user to execute arbitrary commands due to inappropriate permissions that allow the user to specify an alternate print provider.
The weakness was disclosed 11/04/1999 with eEye as MS99-047 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-1999-0899. The exploitation appears to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. A single authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
