Internet Explorer 5 allows a remote attacker to modify the IE client's proxy configuration via a malicious Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) server.
The issue has been introduced in 06/02/1998. The weakness was published 12/02/1999 with Microsoft as MS99-054 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com.
