A vulnerability has been found in WAGO PFC200 03.02.02(14) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function sprintf of the component iocheckd Service. The manipulation as part of a Crafted Packet leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. An exploitable command injection vulnerability exists in the iocheckd service ‘I/O-Check’ function of the WAGO PFC 200 Firmware version 03.02.02(14). An attacker can send specially crafted packet at 0x1ea48 to the extracted hostname value from the xml file that is used as an argument to /etc/config-tools/config_interfaces interface=X1 state=enabled ip-address=<contents of ip node> using sprintf().
The weakness was released 03/12/2020. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-5171 since 01/04/2019. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
