A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in phpMyAdmin up to 4.9.4/5.0.1 (Database Administration Software). Affected is an unknown functionality of the file tbl_get_field.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. In phpMyAdmin 4.x before 4.9.5 and 5.x before 5.0.2, a SQL injection vulnerability was discovered where malicious code could be used to trigger an XSS attack through retrieving and displaying results (in tbl_get_field.php and libraries/classes/Display/Results.php). The attacker must be able to insert crafted data into certain database tables, which when retrieved (for instance, through the Browse tab) can trigger the XSS attack.
The weakness was disclosed 03/22/2020. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2020-10803 since 03/22/2020. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The successful exploitation needs a authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.

Upgrading to version 4.9.5 or 5.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
