The DNS implementation in DeleGate 8.10.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a compressed DNS packet with a label length byte with an incorrect offset, which could trigger an infinite loop.
The weakness was disclosed 05/24/2005 by Dr. Steve Beaty with Metropolitan State College of Denver (Website). The advisory is available at cisco.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-0036 since 01/07/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
