A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in vqSoft vqServer 1.9.9 on Windows. Affected is some unknown functionality of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with the input value /........../ leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. vqSoft vqServer program allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a /........../ in the URL, a variation of a .. (dot dot) attack.
The weakness was disclosed 03/21/2000 by Nils (Website). The advisory is available at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2000-0240. The exploitability is told to be easy.
