Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel (Operating System) (affected version unknown). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the component Signal Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel loose validation of child/parent process identification handling while filtering signal handlers. A local attacker is able to abuse this flaw to bypass checks to send any signal to a privileged process.
The weakness was presented 05/12/2020 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2020-10741 since 03/20/2020.
