A vulnerability has been found in KeyCloak up to 9.x and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the component TLS Hostname Verification. A flaw was found in Keycloak in versions before 10.0.0, where it does not perform the TLS hostname verification while sending emails using the SMTP server. This flaw allows an attacker to perform a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack.
The weakness was published 05/15/2020 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2020-1758 since 11/27/2019. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
