Netscape Communicator before version 4.73 and Navigator 4.07 do not properly validate SSL certificates, which allows remote attackers to steal information by redirecting traffic from a legitimate web server to their own malicious server, aka the "Acros-Suencksen SSL" vulnerability.
The weakness was released 05/10/2000 by Mitja Kolsek as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2000-0406. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
