Details
A vulnerability was found in dpdk 19.11 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component File Descriptors. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability was found in DPDK versions 19.11 and above. A malicious container that has direct access to the vhost-user socket can keep sending VHOST_USER_GET_INFLIGHT_FD messages, causing a resource leak (file descriptors and virtual memory), which may result in a denial of service.
The weakness was disclosed 05/20/2020 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2020-10726 since 03/20/2020. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication.
