Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.6 (Operating System). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component SELinux LSM Hook Handler. The manipulation as part of a Netlink Message leads to a acceptance of extraneous untrusted data with trusted data vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-349. The product, when processing trusted data, accepts any untrusted data that is also included with the trusted data, treating the untrusted data as if it were trusted. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A flaw was found in the Linux kernels SELinux LSM hook implementation before version 5.7, where it incorrectly assumed that an skb would only contain a single netlink message. The hook would incorrectly only validate the first netlink message in the skb and allow or deny the rest of the messages within the skb with the granted permission without further processing.
The weakness was released 05/26/2020 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2020-10751 since 03/20/2020. Attacking locally is a requirement. A simple authentication is required for exploitation.
