Windows NT and Windows 2000 hosts allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via malformed DCE/RPC SMBwriteX requests that contain an invalid data length.
The weakness was presented 06/05/2000 with Samba as not defined posting (NTBugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2000-0544. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
