Details
A vulnerability was found in WhiteSource Application Vulnerability Management up to 20.4.0. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown function of the file /saml/login of the component Log Handler. The manipulation of the argument idp with the input value %0A%0D leads to a injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The dashboard in WhiteSource Application Vulnerability Management (AVM) before version 20.4.1 allows Log Injection via a %0A%0D substring in the idp parameter to the /saml/login URI. This closes the current log and creates a new log with one line of data. The attacker can also insert malicious data and false entries.
The weakness was disclosed 06/08/2020. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2020-5304 since 01/02/2020. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1055 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
