A vulnerability was found in BEA WebLogic Server up to 4.5.1 (Application Server Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component JSP File Handler. The default configuration of BEA WebLogic 3.1.8 through 4.5.1 allows a remote attacker to view source code of a JSP program by requesting a URL which provides the JSP extension in upper case.
The weakness was disclosed 06/08/2000 by BEA Systems with BEA Systems as not defined posting (NTBugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-0499. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
