This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-7664. The attack may be performed from remote. There is no available exploit.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Google Go (Programming Language Software) (the affected version unknown). Affected is the function ExtractTo. The manipulation with the input value .. leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

The ExtractTo function doesn't securely escape file paths in zip archives which include leading or non-leading "..". This allows an attacker to add or replace files system-wide.
