Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 allows a local user to bypass permissions for stored procedures by referencing them via a temporary stored procedure, aka the "Stored Procedure Permissions" vulnerability.
The weakness was disclosed 07/07/2000 with Microsoft as MS00-048 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2000-0603. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19036 (Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Stored Procedure Vulnerability (MS00-048)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch MS00-048 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at microsoft.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
