An issue was discovered in http/ContentLengthInterpreter.cc in Squid before 4.12 and 5.x before 5.0.3. A Request Smuggling and Poisoning attack can succeed against the HTTP cache. The client sends an HTTP request with a Content-Length header containing "+\ "-" or an uncommon shell whitespace character prefix to the length field-value.
The weakness was disclosed 06/30/2020 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-15049 since 06/25/2020. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 4.12 or 5.0.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
