IBM WebSphere allows remote attackers to read source code for executable web files by directly calling the default InvokerServlet using a URL which contains the "/servlet/file" string.

The weakness was released 07/24/2000 with Foundstone as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-0652. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
