A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Advantech iView up to 5.6. This vulnerability affects an unknown function. The manipulation as part of a POST Request leads to a command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-77. Advantech iView, versions 5.6 and prior, has an improper neutralization of special elements used in a command (“command injection�) vulnerability. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow an attacker to send a HTTP GET or POST request that creates a command string without any validation. The attacker may then remotely execute code.
The weakness was disclosed 07/15/2020 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at us-cert.cisa.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-14505 since 06/19/2020. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
