Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in SilverStripe CMS up to 4.4.4 (Content Management System). This vulnerability affects an unknown part. The manipulation as part of a HTTP Header leads to a request smuggling vulnerability (Cache Poisoning). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-444. The product acts as an intermediary HTTP agent
(such as a proxy or firewall) in the data flow between two
entities such as a client and server, but it does not
interpret malformed HTTP requests or responses in ways that
are consistent with how the messages will be processed by
those entities that are at the ultimate destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Silverstripe CMS sites through 4.4.4 which have opted into HTTP Cache Headers on responses served by the framework's HTTP layer can be vulnerable to web cache poisoning. Through modifying the X-Original-Url and X-HTTP-Method-Override headers, responses with malicious HTTP headers can return unexpected responses to other consumers of this cached response. Most other headers associated with web cache poisoning are already disabled through request hostname forgery whitelists.
