The shtml.exe component of Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions 1.1 allows remote attackers determine the physical path of the server components by requesting an invalid URL whose name includes a standard DOS device name.

The weakness was disclosed 10/20/2000 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2000-0710. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
