Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in mediace Extension 7.6.2/7.6.3/7.6.4 on TYPO3. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Checksum Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In TYPO3 installations with the "mediace" extension from version 7.6.2 and before version 7.6.5, it has been discovered that an internal verification mechanism can be used to generate arbitrary checksums. The allows to inject arbitrary data having a valid cryptographic message authentication code and can lead to remote code execution. To successfully exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must have access to at least one `Extbase` plugin or module action in a TYPO3 installation. This is fixed in version 7.6.5 of the "mediace" extension for TYPO3.
The weakness was presented 07/29/2020 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2020-15086 since 06/25/2020. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
