A vulnerability has been found in Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR and Thunderbird (Web Browser) (version now known) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component JIT Optimizer. The manipulation as part of a Argument leads to a type confusion vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-843. JIT optimizations involving the Javascript arguments object could confuse later optimizations. This risk was already mitigated by various precautions in the code, resulting in this bug rated at only moderate severity. This vulnerability affects Firefox ESR < 78.1, Firefox < 79, and Thunderbird < 78.1.
The weakness was released 08/10/2020 as Bug 1647293 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.mozilla.org.
