A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows 2000 (Operating System). It has been rated as critical. The Windows 2000 telnet client attempts to perform NTLM authentication by default, which allows remote attackers to capture and replay the NTLM challenge/response via a telnet:// URL that points to the malicious server, aka the "Windows 2000 Telnet Client NTLM Authentication" vulnerability.
The issue has been introduced in 02/17/2000. The weakness was published 11/14/2000 with @stake as A091400-1 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at atstake.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-0834. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
