Details
A vulnerability was found in ReadyTalk Avian 1.2.0. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function vm::arrayCopy of the file classpath-common.h. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
** UNSUPPORTED WHEN ASSIGNED ** An issue was discovered in ReadyTalk Avian 1.2.0. The vm::arrayCopy method defined in classpath-common.h contains multiple boundary checks that are performed to prevent out-of-bounds memory read/write. However, two of these boundary checks contain an integer overflow that leads to a bypass of these checks, and out-of-bounds read/write. NOTE: This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
The weakness was released 08/12/2020 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2020-17360 since 08/05/2020. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
