A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in IBM AIX 4.2/4.2.1/4.3/4.3.1/4.3.2 (Operating System). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Netstat. The manipulation of the argument -Zi with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. netstat in AIX 4.x.x does not properly restrict access to the -Zi option, which allows local users to clear network interface statistics and possibly hide evidence of unusual network activities.
The issue has been introduced in 05/17/1996. The weakness was shared 11/14/2000 by Alex (Website). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com.
