Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Plus Technologies LPPlus 3.2.2/3.3. This affects some unknown functionality of the file lpdprocess. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
LPPlus creates the lpdprocess file with world-writeable permissions, which allows local users to kill arbitrary processes by specifying an alternate process ID and using the setuid dcclpdshut program to kill the process that was specified in the lpdprocess file.
