A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Marvell QConvergeConsole 5.5.0.64. This vulnerability affects the function getFileUploadBytes. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Marvell QConvergeConsole 5.5.0.64. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the getFileUploadBytes method of the FlashValidatorServiceImpl class. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to disclose stored credentials, leading to further compromise. Was ZDI-CAN-10497.
