IIS 5.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a malformed request for an executable file whose name is appended with operating system commands, aka the "Web Server File Request Parsing" vulnerability.

The weakness was presented 12/19/2000 by Georgi Guninski with Microsoft as MS00-086 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2000-0886. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
