A vulnerability was found in Apache HTTP Server up to 1.3.12 (Web Server) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function RewriteRule of the component mod_rewrite. The manipulation as part of a Regular Expression leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
mod_rewrite in Apache 1.3.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files if a RewriteRule directive is expanded to include a filename whose name contains a regular expression.
