A vulnerability was found in X.org X11 Server up to 1.20.8 (Windowing System Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function XkbSetNames. A flaw was found in X.Org Server before xorg-x11-server 1.20.9. An Out-Of-Bounds access in XkbSetNames function may lead to a privilege escalation vulnerability. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
The weakness was released 09/15/2020 as Bug 1862241 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2020-14345 since 06/17/2020. Attacking locally is a requirement. Required for exploitation is a single authentication.
