A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in MediaWiki up to 1.32.x/1.34.3 (Content Management System). This affects the function LogEventList::getFiltersDesc. The manipulation as part of a Message leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. An issue was discovered in MediaWiki 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4. LogEventList::getFiltersDesc is insecurely using message text to build options names for an HTML multi-select field. The relevant code should use escaped() instead of text().
